What is Seachem Purigen?
OK let’s get the science bit out of the way first!
“A premium synthetic absorbent, unlike any other filtration product you may have used. Not a mixture of ion exchange or absorbents rather a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer”
What does this actually mean? Well, we know, because of its special qualities, Seachem Purigen is such a fantastic product that every aquatic store should stock it! Seachem Purigen is an extra fine filtration media which you place into a fine mesh bag and then put inside your filter. As water passes through the filter it then gets to work absorbing the nitrogenous organic waste that is present in your tank. By removing this waste it then controls ammonia, nitrate and nitrite, preventing them causing major problems in the tank.
When you use Seachem Purigen you’ll soon find it represents amazing value for money! If your tank is a 100cm it will quite literally last for months! As it gradually turns a dark brown (which indicates that it is full of waste) as if by magic – it is not finished! All you need to do is take it out of the tank and soak it in bleach. Then you treat in a mixture of water and Seachem Prime (another fantastic Seachem product) for complete rejuvenation!
Outstanding production quality
Produced in America after years of research in Seachem laboratories. It is now one of our major selling products worldwide!
So if you have a Marine, Freshwater or Planted aquarium you’ll need crystal clear water in which to show off your creation to it’s optimum best and there is only one product that can really achieve this. That product is Seachem Purigen!Directions
Soak in a 1:1 bleach:water solution for 24 hours in a non-metallic container in a ventilated area and away from children and pets. Use regular 8.25% household bleach (non-scented, no dyes, do not use a splash-less bleach). Rinse well, then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 4 tablespoons of Prime (our code 020039 for 50ml) or equivalent de-chlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well.
If you are using in a freshwater tank, soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of buffer per cup of water e.g Discus Buffer® (our code 020364 for 250g) , Neutral Regulator® (our code 020121 for 50G). Original colour and full activity will be restored and Purigen’s ready for reuse.
Caution: some slime coat products may permanently foul Purigen and render regeneration difficult.
Do not reuse if a smell of bleach/chlorine is detectable. If you are in doubt just soak the beads in a small quantity of water and test for residual chlorine with a test kit.
